"Rowing? You mean waking up before the sun rises on a weekend in cold winter, taking the warm bed sheets off of your freezing body and getting off your cozy dear bed to go put your body and mind in variant, insanely severe, kinds of pains; I mean WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE ABOUT IT. It’s crazy, but I love it, it’s an addiction. It’s really funny how easier it is to wake up for a 4:30 am practice than it is to wake up to an 8:30 am class. Ever since I joined the rowing team, the demands of being an architecture student, whom often has to stay up all night working, and being a rower, whom has to wake up early at dawn to go to practice, were very contradicting; and let me tell you balancing these two lifestyles was a hell of a challenge. But one that I sure loved to undergo. Precipitating in such a tough sport while being in a demanding major might sound a little exhausting, but actually going to practice provided a mental break in the midst of stressful studios. It took off all the stress and negative energy. You walk out of the toughest workout feeling like if you could go through that you can do anything in the world. It made me more competitive and confident, and it also made me organize my time better. However, it’s not just the sport that kept me going through it all. It was my teammates and the support and encouragement they showed inside and outside of practice that motivated me to keep pushing and keep getting better. The crew has got very inspiring and ambitious individuals and it greatest bunch you could ever ask for. What I’ve really got to say is, joining the Rowing crew was probably the best decision I made in college."
