" Rowing is one of the toughest sports out there. But as a girl and an AUCian I can confidently say I have it harder than most people. In a world filled with people constantly putting stereotypes on AUCians and girls, it's always hard to assert yourself in the sport; always envisioned as too spoiled, too sassy, even too rich for a physically challenging sport like rowing. I constantly feel the need to prove myself among others. With every new team I join, I always need to show that I'm not mediocre and can push myself harder than anyone else and withstand pain others would crumble at. Everyday I reaffirm that I'm no sissy, and that being feminine, and friendly doesn't necessarily mean I can't "out-row" my competition. Princesses don't have to wear glass slippers and tiaras, they can have their hair in a bun and their feet in cleats."
