"I'm a second generation rower. I inherited the passion for rowing from my father who was a rower before me. I row for a number of reasons, I enjoy the challenge, the discipline, and the zest. But most of all I row because it connects me to my father and my grandfather. My father works abroad and sometimes life becomes too overwhelming that we lose touch, but when I row I feel like I'm walking in his shoes and that he is proud of me. And of course sharing our Rowing stories and experiences always manages to shorten the distance. As for my grandfather, I never actually met him, he was a military man, the captain of an armored brigade in the 1967 war to be exact. I always heard great stories of his heroism and I've always longed to meet him. In actuality I never will but the discipline, toil and zeal asserted by Rowing give me an essence of how he lived his life. And that is why Rowing, to me, will never be just a sport."
